Acid dyes are water soluble and have anionic properties. Water-soluble dyes usually have a complex chemical structure containing sulphonyl or amino groups. In textiles, acid dyes consist of acidic molecules and are commonly applied at low pH levels. As these dyes dissolve in water, the process of dyeing with them takes place primarily in water, which interacts with the dyed material. In comparison with basic dyes, they are highly water-soluble and have better lightfastness. Natural proteins including wool and silk, synthetic polyamides such as nylon, and to a limited extent acrylics and blends of these fibres are often dyed using acid dyes. Acidic or neutral dyebath conditions are used to apply them to these fibers. It include several different types of dyes.  In addition to being fairly easy to apply, acid dyes have a wide range of colours and, depending on the dye selection, can have good colour fastness characteristics. According to their levelling and fastness properties, dyes can be divided into three categories: levelling dyes, milling dyes, and super milling dyes. Due to their acidic properties, they are used for industrial purposes due to their wide range of colors. The leveling properties of these dyes are good, while milling and super milling properties are identical, with the only difference being that super milling acids have a significant strike rate, resulting in good fastness. The dyer must, therefore, ensure that the dyes selected have similar properties based on dye selection and dyeing methods.
