DIETHYL MALONATE MARKET OVERVIEW

The global diethyl malonate market size is predicted to value at USD 0.1 billion in 2024 and is projected to touch USD 0.13 billion by 2033, exhibiting a Compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.7% during the forecast period.

The diethyl ester of malonic acid is called diethyl malonate. It is a colorless liquid with an apple-like odor that occurs naturally in grapes and strawberries and is used in perfumes. It is used in organic synthesis to make alpha-aryl malonates, mono-and di-substituted acetic acid, barbiturates, and artificial flavours. It is also used in the production of pharmaceuticals such as chloroquine, butazolidin, and barbital. It serves as an intermediate in the synthesis of vitamins B1, B6, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents, agrochemicals, and perfumes. It reacts with benzaldehyde to form diethyl benzylidenemalonate in the Knoevenagel condensation reaction.

At room temperature, it is slightly soluble in water and slightly soluble in ethyl alcohol, ether, chloroform, and benzene. It is a colourless, fragrant liquid that boils at 199 degrees celsius and is made by reacting monochloroacetic acid with methanol, carbon monoxide, or cyanoacetic acid with ethyl alcohol. It is a key raw material in the pharmaceutical and agricultural chemical industries. It is used in the pharmaceutical industry to synthesise pharmaceuticals such as chloroquine, butazolidin, barbital, and others. Furthermore, it can be used in pesticides, paint, spices, and other industries. It is used in organic compounds, as an intermediate in dyestuff, medicine, and spicery, and as a medical material.

COVID-19 IMPACT

Inadequacy of Raw Material to a Decrease in the Market Growth

The COVID-19 pandemic was one of humanity's most serious setbacks in recent history. When a tiny virus brought the world to a halt for nearly two years, it affected every aspect of life.
