KEY INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

August, 2025: The Doppler Weather Radar (DWR) at Nagpur Airport was functional again after being out of service since July 29 because of a filament current board failure. The problem was fixed on August 21, and regular radar updates were again given on August 26. The delay was caused by sourcing two new boards in China that were to be used in repair. The radar was commissioned in 2011 at the cost of Rs.13 crore and uses Doppler technology to track weather changes and offer essential information on the movement of clouds, wind patterns, hail, and lightning potential. A second X-band DWR is being planned to be installed at an alternate site at Nagpur pending NOC by the host central government institution.
